Precision Pump Rebuild Machining Foreman

The role at a glance

• Lead 2nd shift operations (2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.) in our Aftermarket Pump Repair Shop.
• Own production flow across machining, assembly, inspection, and welding to meet preset delivery dates.
• Drive quality, safety, throughput, and communication across the shop.

Core responsibilities

• Plan shop activities based on customer requirements; issue detailed job status reports.
• Control and monitor WIP across in-house departments to meet or exceed goals.
• Coordinate daily with the Shop Manager and hand off in-process work to the next shift.
• Collaborate with Engineers to resolve shop-floor issues.
• Review drawings/complete blueprints; coach team members on requirements and methods.
• Execute scope of work; ensure purchasing receives accurate material needs and that materials are on site prior to job start.
• Lead adherence to safety guidelines; train others and model safe behaviors.
• Arrange people and resources to handle emergency weekend work when required.
• Tackle repair issues while demonstrating strong leadership and communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of supervisory experience in an industrial aftermarket setting managing machinists, mechanics, and shop personnel.
• Experience in an equipment repair shop, preferably pumps or power generation.
• Background in manual machining and welding.
• Manual machining experience on large refurbished parts using horizontal boring machines and vertical boring machines.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good mathematical ability and print-reading proficiency.
• ERP experience is a plus; Microsoft Office proficiency is required.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Tools and proficiencies

• Advanced inspection and gauge measurement.
• Machine setups for production runs.
• Manual machining skills.
• Overhead crane operation for material handling.
