Preconstruction Estimator

This company has a track record of delivering high-profile projects like renovations at Alcatraz, Coast Guard housing in Alaska, and hurricane recovery efforts in Puerto Rico. Located in Metro West, MA – no travel required. They are looking for an experienced Preconstruction Manager to lead the development of accurate cost estimates and proposals for large-scale infrastructure projects. This position is essential in shaping competitive bids for complex design-build contracts with U.S. government agencies.

Compensation depends on experience but is up to 115K.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop comprehensive scope of work packages, including narratives, quantity take-offs, and checklists, to clearly define project requirements.
• Evaluate and compare subcontractor/vendor proposals, ensuring accuracy in scope, schedule, and cost, while identifying potential gaps.
• Review project solicitation documents to ensure completeness and raise pertinent questions when needed.
• Lead the solicitation process for subcontractor and vendor quotations, ensuring clear communication of bid packages and prompt responses to inquiries.
• Assist in preparing detailed price analysis reports, providing valuable insights for decision-making.
• Collaborate with the design team on RFP responses for design-build projects to align estimates with project goals and specifications.
• Support purchasing efforts by defining subcontractor/vendor agreement scopes and addressing any contractual concerns.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in construction estimating.
• Experience with federal or large-scale infrastructure projects is preferred, but not required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), with experience in estimating software such as Sage Estimating (Timberline) and On-Screen Take-off as a plus.
• Demonstrated longevity of service, with at least 3 years at a single company, showcasing reliability and growth.
• Strong understanding of construction documents, with the ability to develop detailed and accurate scopes of work.
• Familiarity with sitework, concrete, steel, or building interiors is a plus but not required.
