    Job Title: Prep Cook
    Department: Food & Beverage
    Reports To: Executive Chef / Sous Chef
    Hourly Rate: $25.75 per hour

    Location: Long Beach, CA
    Job Type: Part-Time
     

    Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Prep Cook at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. This position is responsible for preparing food items in the kitchen and/or concessions, following food safety standards, and supporting the food service operations for the facility.

    Please note that Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center Food and Beverage employees are covered by a collective bargaining agreement with Unite Here Local 11, and union membership is a condition of employment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Set up stations and gather all necessary supplies to prepare the menu for service.
    • Properly label and date food items for storage.
    • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products to ensure smooth service during events.
    • Consistently follow standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
    • Use food preparation tools in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
    • Perform opening, side, and closing duties according to specified standards.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area at all times.
    • Assist with cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and storage areas.
    • Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
    • Ensure all storage areas are tidy and products are stored appropriately.
    • Practice safe and hygienic food handling at all times.
    • Return dirty food preparation utensils to the appropriate areas.
    • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Must be 18 or older to apply. High school diploma or GED required.
    • Certifications: Must have current ServeSafe certification.
    • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in food service preparing meals.
    • Skills and Abilities:
      • Ability to produce quality food in a fast-paced environment.
      • Positive attitude with a customer service orientation.
      • Strong knowledge of sanitary practices.
      • Ability to maintain proper grooming and dress code standards.
      • Strong work ethic and ability to collaborate with other staff members.
      • Ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.

    Other Qualifications:

    • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

    Physical Demands:

    • Regularly required to stand and walk for long periods during events.
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. to waist height.
    • May require working inside or outside the building, as needed by events.
    • The position may involve exposure to loud sounds during events.
    • Requires stooping, lifting, and working with various kitchen equipment.
