Prep Director Job Description

We are looking for an organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and highly motivated leader to serve as our Prep Director. This individual will oversee the restaurant's prep operations and play a key role in ensuring that the restaurant consistently has fresh, high-quality finished cold products such as salads, fruit cups and other products while following Chick-fil-A guidelines and standards.

Our Prep Director must be able to plan ahead, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of organization. They must understand the importance of proper preparation, food safety, product rotation, inventory management, and waste control.

The Prep Director will work closely with the Operator, Directors, BOH leadership, and team members to determine appropriate prep levels and ensure the restaurant has the necessary products available to meet business demands. This includes monitoring sales, identifying trends, planning production, ordering produce, receiving deliveries, and adjusting prep levels as needed.

More importantly, the ideal Prep Director should be reliable, servant-minded, organized, proactive, energetic, approachable, accountable, and committed to developing others. They should be someone who thinks ahead, pays attention to details, takes ownership of their responsibilities, and consistently sets the example through their attitude, work ethic, communication, and commitment to Chick-fil-A's values and standards.

Responsibilities of a Prep Director

• Lead and supervising the Prep team and daily Prep operations while seeking continuous improvement
• Set the tone and culture for the Prep team through a positive, professional, and proactive attitude
• Ensure all Prep products such as salads, fruit cups, and other produce items are prepared according to Chick-fil-A quality and safety standards
• Manage prep ordering and production orders based on sales, historical demand, current business trends, and anticipated needs while being a good financial steward
• Work closely with BOH leadership to ensure Prep products are available when needed
• Receive produce and Prep-related deliveries accurately and efficiently while inspecting produce for quality
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient environment with properly labeled and in-date products
• Monitor and the quality and expiration of product and ensure proper utilization and corrective action as needed
• Record any waste or requested credits from suppliers and identify ways of reducing unnecessarily expired product
• Training team members on proper Prep procedures and Chick-fil-A standards and hold them accountable
• Support the team with catering orders, dishes, and operational line work as necessary
• Ensure the prep area is well stocked for the following shift and any special communication is shared with the next shift

Prep Director Job Requirements
