Pressure Vessel Pipe Welder – 6G Specialist

Picture this: it’s 6:00 PM in Northwest Houston, the shop floor hums to life, and you’re setting up for a night of precision welding. You scan engineering drawings, stage your fit-up, and dial in your machine. Carbon steel or stainless—no matter. You’re ready to deliver full-penetration welds that meet tight tolerances and strict quality benchmarks.

The Work You’ll Do

As a Vessel Welder, you’ll perform advanced vessel and pipe welding on shells, nozzles, couplings, and flanges. You’ll run SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core), and gouging to complete 2"–6" pipe welds in the 6G fixed position with uphill progression. You’ll control heat input, manage weld tolerances, and keep a clean, organized work area while consistently meeting production, quality, and safety goals.

What You Bring

• 2–4 years of vessel fabrication or pressure vessel welding experience.
• Proficiency with Stick, MIG, and Flux Core processes and familiarity with gouging.
• Ability to read and follow welding procedures and engineering drawings.
• Willingness to pass employer weld tests: 6G, 6-inch, and 2-inch at 45 degrees.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality in a fabrication shop.

Schedule, Pay, and Details

• Location: Northwest Houston, TX
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 6:00 PM–5:30 AM (overtime and Saturdays as needed; Saturday work is typically communicated on Thursdays)
• Pay: Starting at $23.00 per hour, plus shift differential (based on experience and weld test results)
• Duration: Temp-to-Hire
