    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Monitors the accounting, reporting and control of financial data to ensure the accurate maintenance and reporting of expenditures in accordance with NJ TRANSIT policy and procedures, federal and state regulations, and GAAP.

    • Participates in the implementation and development of NJ TRANSIT policies and procedures to maintain consistency, improve methodology and efficiency of accounting operations.

    • Prepares and distributes detailed reports for all levels of management to facilitate the flow of financial information and/or resolution of problems related to accounting.

    • Reviews expenditures either by request of management or predetermined guidelines established by management, to ensure that all expenses are properly recorded.

    • Responsible for accurate and timely disbursements and reporting to third parties, including processing the weekly and monthly interface files to Accounts Payable.

    • Performs and reviews analyses of selected general ledger accounts; identifies and resolves reconciling items and accounting issues on a timely basis.

    • Provides oversight to lower level accountants in the performance of specific tasks or special projects.

    Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related

    • Five (5) years of applied accounting experience, preferably in Payroll.
