Job Purpose

Consult, architect, design, implement, and support advanced technology infrastructure solutions, with primary emphasis on enterprise network field engineering, routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, and security edge technologies.

Essential Functions
  • Consult with customers and internal teams to understand business requirements, current network environments, technical constraints, and migration objectives; translate those requirements into practical implementation plans and field-ready designs.
  • Develop network designs, implementation plans, Statements of Work, migration plans, equipment configurations, test plans, and documentation for advanced infrastructure projects.
  • Independently configure, stage, deploy, troubleshoot, and validate network equipment and services across primary technologies including Arista platforms, SD-WAN / VeloCloud, Cisco, Palo Alto, routing, switching, and wireless.
  • Lead and supervise field installation activities, coordinate project cutovers, manage migration from legacy to new network equipment, and ensure customer services are functioning as expected after implementation.
  • Provide technical feedback to product management, operations, project management, and sales engineering based on field implementation experience, customer requirements, and emerging technology needs.
Education

Four years of college resulting in a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Experience
  • Over 10 years in related field.
  • Proven results-based work experience in network engineering, field implementation, infrastructure design, or equivalent / related technical field.
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced route / switch experience, including enterprise routing protocols, Layer 2 / Layer 3 design, VLANs, high availability, migration planning, and production cutover execution.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Arista, SD-WAN / VeloCloud, Cisco, and Palo Alto platforms.
  • Strong wireless implementation experience, including site readiness, configuration, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to independently configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and related network services.
  • Ability to interpret network diagrams, scopes of work, customer requirements, and implementation plans, then convert them into successful field deployment.
  • Experience leading technical cutovers, coordinating field resources, validating service restoration, documenting results, and handing off completed work to operational support teams.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to explain technical recommendations, implementation risks, and project status clearly.
  • Certifications or equivalent experience in route / switch, wireless, Arista, Cisco, Palo Alto, or SD-WAN technologies preferred.
  • Experience with security, unified communications, cloud applications, virtualization, or data center technologies is desirable but secondary to core networking and field implementation experience.
Supervisory Responsibility

Work Environment

Daytime hours — must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays to complete projects, implementations, migrations, and customer cutovers as needed.
