Objectives of this Role:

• Ensure the safety and well-being of our campus environments through the proficient maintenance and operational effectiveness of fire protection, alarm systems, and life safety protocols.
• Provide excellent customer service by timely and professionally responding to client inquiries.
• Work independently and as a part of a team, demonstrating strong collaboration skills.
• Comply with all safety regulations, maintain a safe work environment, keep fire sprinkler systems operational, and in compliance with insurance provider's requirements.
• Stay updated on industry trends and technologies.
• Be punctual, a problem solver with a positive attitude, cross-train and work with other trades if necessary.
• Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to learn quickly.
• Install, maintain and repair low voltage systems (fire alarms, notifier systems, access control systems, CCTV).
• Conduct regular system inspections and tests.
• Experience with maintaining Clean Agent and other suppression systems is preferred but not required.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Assist with general maintenance on low voltage electronic alarm systems, including installing and programming fire and access panels, replacing batteries, and repairing or replacing damaged cabling.
• Document daily activities through the electronic helpdesk program and keep management updated on work progress and completion.
• Maintain a daily truck inspection log and monthly reports on testing fire pumps, inspecting fire risers, and riser rooms.
• Assist divisions with project work and escort contractors as necessary.
• Support other departments within the Facilities Division and ITC by maintaining local Red and White box alarm monitoring systems.
• Perform monthly checks on campus elevators and inspect floor drains in areas visited during riser inspections.
• Service fire alarms, fire hydrants, card access, and security systems.
• Escort contractors during alarm inspections, placing service requests as needed.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local fire safety codes and regulations, including those set by the National Fire Protection Association.

Requirements:

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Texas fire installer license preferred but not required.
• Shift work required.
• 5-15 years: Experience performing regular inspections, tests, and minor repairs of fire alarms and life safety systems. Experience conducting preventive maintenance and assisting with compliance inspections under limited supervision. Leading smaller projects and training junior staff.
• 5-15 years: Handling complex maintenance and repair tasks, conduct thorough inspections, and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Leading mid-sized projects, providing technical guidance, and maintaining accurate records. Coordinating with regulatory agencies and vendors.
• 5-15 years: Providing expert technical support under limited supervision. Leading major safety projects, innovate procedures, and ensure full regulatory compliance. Coordinating with vendors and regulatory bodies, and maintaining comprehensive testing records.
• 5-15 years: Independently performing advanced inspections, tests, and repairs on fire alarms and life safety systems. Leading projects, ensure compliance with safety standards, and conduct preventive maintenance. Maintaining detailed documentation and coordinate with stakeholders.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required.
