What you may own

• Design reliable data platforms, models, and pipelines for analytics and machine learning.
• Set the technical direction for data, machine learning, or applied artificial intelligence initiatives.
• Turn business priorities into measurable models, data products, experiments, and production systems.
• Establish standards for data quality, evaluation, monitoring, privacy, and responsible model use.
• Partner with engineering, product, security, and business leaders on implementation and adoption.
• Communicate tradeoffs, limitations, and results clearly to technical and executive audiences.
• Develop team capability through hiring, mentoring, documentation, and repeatable operating practices.

What we are looking for

• Senior experience in machine learning, data science, data engineering, analytics, or a related discipline.
• Strong statistical, technical, and experimental judgment.
• Experience taking data or model work from discovery into monitored production use.
• Ability to connect technical work to revenue, customer, risk, or operating outcomes.
• Clear communication with executives, engineers, analysts, and nontechnical partners.
• Authorization to work in the United States for the employer without misrepresenting work status.

Compensation and location

The anticipated base salary range across represented Principal Data Engineer searches in New York is $185,000 to $275,000 per year. Final compensation depends on the employer, scope, level, experience, and work arrangement and may include bonus, commission, or equity where applicable.
