We’re recruiting a Principal Manufacturing Engineer for a growing medical device manufacturing organization in Suffield, CT.

This is a senior technical role for an engineer with deep experience in laser processing and advanced manufacturing who enjoys solving difficult manufacturing problems, developing new capabilities, and taking processes from early concept through production.

You won’t simply inherit established processes and maintain them.

You’ll help determine how new products should be manufactured in the first place—evaluating technical feasibility, developing processes, identifying equipment and technology needs, and helping turn challenging customer requirements into scalable manufacturing solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert in laser processing and advanced manufacturing.

Your work will include:

• Developing and optimizing precision laser processes including laser welding, cutting, marking, micromachining, and related technologies
• Evaluating new products and customer requirements for manufacturing feasibility
• Leading process development from early concept through validation and production
• Supporting DFM and recommending practical manufacturing approaches for complex products
• Evaluating new manufacturing technologies and capital equipment
• Supporting technical quotations and helping define equipment, tooling, and process requirements for new programs
• Troubleshooting difficult manufacturing and process problems
• Supporting equipment implementation, process validation, and production scale-up
• Working directly with customers, engineering, operations, quality, and commercial teams
• Establishing technical standards and best practices for laser processing
• Mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership across multiple manufacturing operations

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who has developed enough depth in laser processing that they’ve become a go-to technical resource when the manufacturing problem gets difficult.

The ideal background includes:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
• Approximately 10+ years of experience in laser processing, advanced manufacturing, or related precision manufacturing technologies
• Strong hands-on experience with one or more precision laser processes such as laser welding, laser cutting, laser marking, or laser micromachining
• Experience developing manufacturing processes from concept through production
• Experience evaluating, selecting, implementing, or qualifying manufacturing equipment
• Strong manufacturing troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving skills
• Experience supporting DFM, technical feasibility evaluations, or technical quotations
• Ability to work directly with customers and translate technical requirements into practical manufacturing solutions
• Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring other engineers

Experience in medical device, aerospace, or another highly regulated precision manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
