    Description

    Qualifications: 

    • 15+ years of piping design experience, including 10+ years in a checking or QA leadership role.
    • Proficient in Navis.
    • Prefer familiarity in at least one major CAD platform, CADWorx or Revit.
    • Strong capability in conducting and leading detailed model reviews.
    • Deep technical knowledge of pipe routing, stress considerations, supports, materials, and industry standards.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify design inconsistencies early.

    Responsibilities:

    Key Responsibilities

    • Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight
    • Verify that piping designs meet applicable national codes, standards, project design bases, and material specifications.
    • Ensure QA and checking activities align with scope, schedule, LOD requirements, and project deliverables.
    • Participate in technical meetings, model reviews, and interdisciplinary design reviews.
    • Develop and maintain the Project QA and Design Verification Plan in coordination with Global QA.
    • Review engineering documents including drawings, datasheets, specifications, vendor packages, and specialty piping data for accuracy, fit, function, and compliance.
    • Evaluate equipment and piping layouts for constructability and installation efficiency.
    • Review pipe support locations, spans, and compatibility with pipe stress requirements.
    • Provide clear redlines, feedback, and correction guidance to designers/drafters and improve overall design quality.

    Leadership & Collaboration

    • Work closely with project delivery teams, Piping Design Leads, Engineering Managers, and multidiscipline design teams.
    • Mentor and provide technical guidance to designers and checking staff.
    • Support improvements to discipline workflows, tools, and standards.
    • Identify potential scope changes and support schedule, budget, and staffing forecasts for QA activities.
    • Engage in internal, cross‑discipline, and external quality reviews.

    Key QA Activities & Deliverables

    Conceptual Design:

    • Support conceptual and schematic design reviews, including positioning and SMP phases.
    • Perform compliance reviews to ensure design inputs are consistently applied.
    • Review space planning deliverables and batch flyers.
    • Conduct P&ID peer reviews and perform P&ID reconciliation.

    Detailed Design:

    • Review plot plans, equipment GAs, piping plans, details, support locations, and spans.
    • Perform formal checks of the detailed design piping model.
    • Verify drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project standards.
    • Validate piping material takeoffs against project specifications and LOD criteria.

    Integration, Coordination & Safety:

    • Identify and resolve potential interferences between piping and other disciplines using the project's clash detection procedures.
    • Evaluate designs for constructability, operability, maintainability, and Safety in Design (SID) considerations.
    • Ensure systems can be safely fabricated, installed, and maintained.

    Technical Reporting:

    • Provide QA findings to support lessons learned, training, and continuous improvement.
