Principal Product Manager- Copilot

Overview

The Copilot Platform team is building the foundational capabilities that power the next generation of AI experiences across Microsoft 365 Copilot. Our mission is to create a secure, reliable, and scalable platform that enables teams across Microsoft to rapidly build and deliver high-quality Copilot experiences for customers.

We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead the vision and strategy for Agentic Engineering across Microsoft 365 Copilot and BizChat.

AI is fundamentally changing how software is built and operated. Our ambition is to go beyond using AI to make individual engineering tasks faster. We want to reimagine the software development lifecycle (SDLC) around collaboration between engineers and AI agents.

In this role, you will define the strategy for how agentic capabilities transform the engineering lifecycle, from planning and design through development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production operations. You will partner closely with engineering and product leaders to turn this vision into scalable platforms, workflows, and practices that improve engineering velocity, quality, reliability, and developer experience.

Responsibilities

• Define the vision and strategy for Agentic Engineering across the end-to-end software development lifecycle.

• Identify the highest-value opportunities for AI agents to improve how engineers design, build, test, deploy, monitor, and operate software.

• Develop a product strategy and roadmap for moving from AI-assisted development toward increasingly agent-native engineering workflows.

• Partner with engineering teams to create reusable agentic capabilities, platforms, and patterns that can scale across a large engineering organization.

• Establish success metrics that measure improvements in engineering productivity, quality, reliability, cycle time, and developer experience.

• Drive adoption of new agentic engineering practices and help teams evolve the way they build and operate software.

• Bring together related investments across teams into a cohesive strategy while enabling teams to innovate within their domains.

• Influence senior product and engineering leaders and drive alignment across organizational boundaries.

• Stay at the forefront of advances in AI agents and software engineering and translate emerging capabilities into meaningful engineering transformation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
• OR equivalent experience.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in product management, software engineering, technical program management, or equivalent roles delivering technically complex products or platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to define product vision and strategy in ambiguous and rapidly evolving areas.
• Solid understanding of software development practices, developer workflows, and the software development lifecycle.
• Experience working with AI, developer platforms, engineering systems, or large-scale cloud services.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex initiatives across multiple engineering teams and organizational boundaries.
• Solid analytical skills with experience defining measurable product and business outcomes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence both technical teams and senior leaders.
• Experience with generative AI, AI agents, AI-powered developer tools, or developer productivity platforms.
• Experience building platforms, tools, or workflows used by large engineering organizations.
• Understanding of AI evaluation, agent orchestration, human-in-the-loop systems, or autonomous workflows.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems, DevOps, reliability, or production engineering.

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
