Job Description

About the role:

The APX Fleet Engineering organization is seeking a Principal Project Manager to plan, coordinate and deliver one or more complex AP1000 engineering work packages. The Principal Project Manager works within an assigned portfolio and partners with the Lead Project Manager or Program Manager, Lead Engineer, Functional Engineering and Project Controls to establish and maintain an executable delivery plan.

The Principal Project Manager is accountable for assigned scope, schedule, cost, resource coordination, risks, issues, interfaces, forecast accuracy and completion evidence. The role independently drives day-to-day execution and elevates portfolio-level conflicts or decisions through the appropriate leadership path.

You will report to the Director - Project & Portfolio Planning and will be hybrid at the Cranberry Woods, PA or Rock Hill, SC facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned engineering work packages from authorization through accepted completion, including scope, schedule, cost, resources, risks, interfaces and actions.
  • Develop and maintain work-package plans with clear ownership, milestones, logic, forecast dates and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure assigned scope and progress are accurately represented in the Integrated Engineering Schedule.
  • Coordinate engineering contributors, technical leads, Project Controls and interfacing organizations to maintain execution alignment.
  • Monitor actual performance, update remaining forecasts and communicate material variance and recovery actions.
  • Identify risks, constraints and decisions early; drive issue resolution and escalate matters that exceed work-package authority.
  • Maintain action, change and decision records and support configuration-controlled completion evidence.
  • Provide concise status to the Lead Project Manager or Program Manager and support portfolio reporting.
  • Apply standard Project Afterburner tools, processes, lessons learned and continuous-improvement practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Business or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive project management, engineering, project engineering or project-controls experience.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and delivering complex work packages or projects with multiple contributors and interfaces.
  • Working experience with scope, schedule, cost, resources, risks, issues, forecasting and performance reporting.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,200 to $129,000 per year.
