Principal Quality Control Engineer - Electrical / I&C Inspector

About the Role
Client is seeking a Principal Quality Control Engineer to join our team, working in the specialized role of Electrical / I&C Inspector. This position supervises and directs quality control engineers performing inspections and surveillance in support of project and maintenance activities, ensuring construction and operations meet the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct quality control engineers performing inspections and surveillance activities
• Provide quality control support to construction management, directing personnel to implement quality requirements and accurately status results
• Establish priorities that support construction/operations needs
• Resolve complex problems arising during quality activity implementation by coordinating with internal and external departments
• Provide leadership that promotes efficient performance, safe work habits, timely information exchange, and adherence to site policies
• Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities
• Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities
• Review and approve subcontractor quality procedures and monitor adherence
• Coordinate quality control engineers' activities with other construction departments to ensure compliance with site specifications and standards
• Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing, and surveillance
• Provide effective quality training programs and ensure personnel qualification
• Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel

Electrical/I&C-Specific Duties

• Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to electrical and I&C, per Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards
• Perform field inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans
• Document inspection results and issue NonConformance reports as required
• Review product and process compliance with drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline + 8–10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas
  • OR Associate's degree + 10–12 years of experience
  • OR High school diploma + 12–16 years of experience
• Well-developed organizational and supervisory skills; strong communication abilities
• Certification in area(s) of responsibility, with ongoing programmatic training per project quality program requirements
• Practical field experience in electrical and I&C quality control within the last 16 months (Preferred)
• Prior work experience under an ASME NQA-1 quality program (Required)
• Prior DOE work experience (Required)

Security Clearance Requirements

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance (active clearance not required to start; candidate will be notified when to apply based on work assignment)
• Candidates with an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two years are preferred
