Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and innovative medicinal chemist to join a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team working on the development of targeted protein degradation therapeutics. In this role, you will provide medicinal chemistry leadership on small molecule heterobivalent and monovalent (glue) degrader projects. Your in-depth knowledge of medicinal chemistry and proven track record of problem solving, follow-through, and project completion. will be key to driving success in projects that advance small molecules across stage gates, from Hit Identification through clinical candidate nomination.

Your Role

  • Enables expeditious advancement of Structure Activity Relationships (SAR) through creative contributions to medicinal chemistry design, including effective collaboration with Biological Sciences, Computational Chemistry and Structural Biology colleagues.
  • Independently leads medicinal chemistry efforts on heterobivalent and/or monovalent degrader projects.
  • Manages external chemistry efforts at CROs (Contract Research Organizations).
  • Critically analyzes data and communicates findings effectively to multidisciplinary team members and leadership.
  • Communicates clear, focused, and transparent updates to project teams, internal departments, and senior leadership.
  • Makes broad scientific contributions that have a positive impact on the research direction of the company.
  • Contributes to and/or authors patents, scientific presentations, and publications.

Your Background

Required:

  • A PhD in organic and/or medicinal chemistry with a minimum of eight years of relevant biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical experience in medicinal chemistry roles, with experience solving challenging problems in drug discovery through medicinal chemistry optimization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, including methodologies, transformations, and mechanisms
  • Proven scientific track record of advancing small molecules through stage gate milestones, from Hit ID through candidate selection, including optimizing degraders, including ligand optimization in the presence (and/or absence) of structural data
  • Experience managing CRO chemistry efforts to ensure appropriate use of resources and timely delivery of compounds
  • Experience closely working with Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetic (DMPK) colleagues on the in vitro and in vivo optimization of DMPK parameters to progress compounds

Preferred:

  • Experience in working across multiple drug modalities, including ADC / DACs
  • Hands-on experience utilizing and implementing computational tools (Maestro, MOE, or similar) to the design of compounds and integration of computational data into a continual design-synthesize-test-data analysis cycle

Compensation

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $181,012.05 and $200,066.00 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
