    Description

We are hiring Principal, Senior, and Distinguished Engineers to join AWS Applied AI Solutions.

AWS Applied AI Solutions (AAIS) is revolutionizing the future of work and enterprise technology with AI solutions that improve human capabilities and business outcomes. Our vision is to empower every business to innovate with Amazon AI teammates that make intelligent operations effortless. We blend curiosity with Amazon"s real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions that work right out of the box. This spans customer engagement (Connect Customer AI), healthcare (Connect Health), supply chain and demand planning (Connect Decisions), high-volume hiring (Connect Talent), scientific discovery (Bio Discovery), physical retail (Just Walk Out), end-user computing (Amazon WorkSpaces), cloud workforce development (AWS Training and Certification), and AI-powered cloud operations (AWS Support). If you want to build AI that runs in production serving hundreds of millions of interactions, where correctness, latency, and failure-mode ownership are first-class concerns, this is the team.

    What You'll Do:

This is a rare chance to own and ship finished AI solutions - not building blocks, not platform layers - at enterprise scale. You"ll architect end-to-end systems where thousands of autonomous agents orchestrate in real time, make consequential decisions in production, and collaborate with humans in ways no one has built before.

The problems here are unlike anything else in the industry. How do you guarantee correctness in non-deterministic systems? How do you orchestrate thousands of concurrent agents with heterogeneous latency profiles and zero established consensus model? How do you design an AI teammate that onboards to a business the way a new hire would - building trust, learning context, knowing when to escalate? These are research-grade challenges being solved in production, at scale. The patterns don"t exist yet. You"re inventing them.

The systems you build here won"t sit in a backlog - they ship to real customers: healthcare systems managing millions of patient interactions, pharma companies compressing drug discovery from years to weeks, enterprises orchestrating global supply chains in real time. You"ll have direct influence over technical choices, minimal layers between you and decisions, and the opportunity to define what AI-native engineering looks like in practice.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
