As a Principal Engineer, Team Lead, you will serve as the Technical Lead for Atlas Team 2, one of Frontline's next-generation product teams. Atlas is being built from the ground up on a modern architecture, giving you the opportunity to help establish technical patterns, engineering practices, and product foundations that can scale with our customers and our business.

This is an intentionally hands-on leadership role. You will bring deep technical ownership across Atlas Team 2's services and user experience while also guiding day-to-day pod execution, mentoring engineers, and partnering closely with Product, Architecture, QA, and the Platform Components team.

You will help the team make thoughtful decisions early, when they have the greatest long-term impact. That means understanding what customers and users are trying to accomplish, challenging assumptions when needed, and designing reusable solutions that improve outcomes rather than simply responding to individual requests.

How you''ll drive success

• Serve as the Technical Lead for Atlas Team 2, providing day-to-day technical direction, guidance, mentorship, and hands-on engineering leadership.
• Own sprint execution for the pod, including technical decomposition, implementation strategy, design reviews, sequencing, delivery coordination, and early identification of risks or dependencies.
• Partner with the Engineering Manager and Product Manager to create clear priorities and predictable delivery as the Atlas roadmap, backlog, and team continue to grow.
• Establish the technical conventions, review practices, engineering standards, and delivery rhythms a new product team needs to build effectively from the beginning.
• Facilitate technical discussions and create alignment across Atlas Team 1, QA, Platform Architecture, and other teams involved in shared platform capabilities.
• Design and implement complex, cross-cutting capabilities from initial discovery and technical design through development, testing, deployment, production readiness, and monitoring.
• Build and maintain modern front-end experiences using React and TypeScript, including effective use of Frontline's shared platform component library.
• Work fluently across the stack, including .NET/C# services, REST APIs, event-driven microservices, relational data stores, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Build deep technical understanding of critical Atlas services and help ensure appropriate standards for performance, reliability, security, maintainability, observability, and production readiness.
• Collaborate with Product Management during discovery to understand customer needs, explore technical feasibility, and shape reusable platform-oriented solutions rather than one-off implementations.
• Participate actively in early-stage ideation, rapid prototyping, technical spikes, and feasibility analysis so important assumptions can be tested before significant delivery commitments are made.
• Help define MVP scope and iterative delivery strategies that allow the team to learn quickly while building a sustainable technical foundation.
• Identify architectural dependencies, technical assumptions, integration concerns, customer adoption risks, and operational considerations early enough to influence product and delivery decisions.
• Lead code reviews and design discussions, raising the technical bar while creating an environment where engineers can ask questions, challenge ideas, and strengthen their own judgment.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, feedback, technical reviews, and shared problem-solving, helping them build greater independence, confidence, and technical depth.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, and other emerging technologies to accelerate appropriate parts of discovery, prototyping, development, testing, debugging, documentation, and technical analysis.
• Apply strong engineering judgment when working with AI-generated output, validating it for correctness, security, performance, maintainability, and alignment with Frontline engineering practices before it is incorporated into production systems.
• Help the pod develop effective and responsible AI-enabled engineering practices so new tools improve collective productivity and capability, not simply individual speed.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve engineering standards, tooling, developer experience, and delivery practices as Atlas grows.

What you bring to help us grow

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including demonstrated experience leading technical execution for a team, pod, or major product initiative.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in React and TypeScript, with the depth and confidence to serve as the senior front-end technical voice on a new product team.
• Experience designing and building APIs, microservices, and distributed systems in a SaaS environment using .NET/C# or comparable server-side technologies.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications on AWS using services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, SNS/SQS, container-based workloads, or comparable technologies.
• Experience designing or supporting event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as Kafka.
• Experience taking complex capabilities through the full engineering lifecycle, including discovery, design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or similar technologies to support software design, development, testing, debugging, or delivery.
• Strong technical judgment, including the ability to evaluate AI-generated solutions critically rather than accepting output without appropriate review.
• Experience with Docker, relational databases, automated build and deployment practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs understandable to engineering and non-technical partners.
• Experience leading code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical planning while mentoring engineers and creating clarity across a team.

Experience standing up a new team, service, platform, or major product capability from the ground up will help you contribute quickly. Experience adopting or contributing to shared component libraries and a track record of improving engineering standards, tooling, developer experience, or team practices are also valuable.

Frontline Education offers competitive compensation aligned with the scope of the role, relevant experience, skills, and internal equity.

Base Salary Range: $175,000-$190,000
