    Job Description

Amazon"s supply chain catalog platform sits at the center of how products move through our systems - and we need a Principal Technical Program Manager to help shape it. Within the Amazon Selection and Catalog Systems organization, you will own the strategy and delivery of authoritative barcode policies and exemption frameworks, working across business teams to drive adoption and enforcement throughout the supply chain catalog. This is a high-visibility role at an exciting time: the team is actively building bi-directional data exchange between Amazon"s supply chain systems and merchandizing catalog, and you will be the person turning that ambiguity into a clear path forward.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Define and own the roadmap for barcode policies and exemption frameworks across the supply chain catalog, driving alignment with engineering, product, and business stakeholders across Amazon.
    • Lead the design and delivery of the bi-directional data exchange between Amazon"s supply chain systems and merchandizing catalog, decomposing complex integration problems into clear, actionable plans.
    • Build consensus across all levels of leadership by representing complex decisions and trade-offs clearly in both written and verbal formats to audiences up to VP and above.
    • Identify gaps and opportunities across systems, workflows, and organizations, proactively steering teams toward coherent technology strategies and away from known failure patterns.
    • Mentor other technical program managers, share best practices across the community, and create mechanisms that ensure long-term program success independent of any single individual.

    A day in the life

You might start your morning reviewing a proposed change to barcode policy enforcement with engineers, asking pointed questions that surface hidden risks before they become blockers. By midday you are in a cross-team alignment meeting with supply chain and catalog stakeholders, synthesizing input to drive a decision that unblocks parallel workstreams. In the afternoon you could be drafting a strategy document for senior leadership that lays out options for the next phase of the data exchange program. Throughout, you balance deep technical engagement with the broader view needed to keep a portfolio of initiatives on track.

    About the team

The Amazon Selection and Catalog Systems organization owns the platform that connects product data across Amazon"s supply chain and merchandizing catalog. We are investing in tighter integration between these systems, building the data exchange layer that will improve how products are identified, tracked, and managed at scale. We value collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to work through ambiguity. If you want a role where your program leadership directly improves operations for teams across Amazon, we would love to hear from you.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
