Bindery Equipment Setup TechnicianPosition Summary
We are seeking an experienced Bindery Equipment Setup Technician to join our production team. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting folding and print finishing equipment to ensure efficient production and the highest quality standards.
Primary equipment includes GUK-Vijuk, MBO, and Pratham folding machines, as well as tabbers, piggyback insert marrying equipment, stitchers, and Vijuk serialization printers.
Shift Availability
We are currently hiring for the following shifts:
- 1st Shift: 7:00 AM 3:00 PM (3 openings)
- 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM 11:00 PM (3 openings)
- 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM 7:00 AM (2 openings)
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, and operate folding and bindery equipment for production runs.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance on production equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues to minimize downtime.
- Read and interpret production work orders and customer specifications.
- Ensure products meet all quality standards and production requirements.
- Complete production paperwork accurately while following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Operate and maintain electronic inspection equipment, including barcode readers, jam detectors, and double-sheet detectors.
- Monitor multiple machines simultaneously and respond quickly to quality or production issues.
- Verify finished product dimensions using rulers and measuring tools.
- Work collaboratively with production personnel while sharing knowledge and assisting with cross-training.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
- 3 5 years of experience setting up and operating folding, bindery, or print finishing equipment preferred.
- Experience with GUK-Vijuk, MBO, Pratham, tabbers, stitchers, or similar production equipment is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and make equipment adjustments.
- Ability to read and interpret operating instructions, production documents, work instructions, and safety procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to oversee multiple machines while maintaining production and quality standards.
- Ability to accurately use rulers and measuring devices.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English is helpful but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the entire shift.
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to safely perform repetitive physical tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
