    Private Probation Officer

    Location: Union, MO

    Part-time, 20 hours per week

    We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate professional to provide supervision, support, and accountability to individuals currently on probation or parole. This role works closely with the court system, treatment providers, and community resources to help participants achieve successful outcomes while maintaining compliance with court-ordered requirements.

    The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to helping individuals overcome barriers while promoting public safety and positive behavioral change.

    Essential Responsibilities

    Case Management & Client Supervision

    • Provide ongoing supervision and support to individuals on probation or parole.
    • Conduct intake appointments and administer screening and assessment tools for new clients.
    • Meet with probationers according to scheduled appointments and as needed.
    • Monitor compliance with court-ordered requirements and conditions of supervision.
    • Complete violation reports and other required documentation in a timely manner.
    • Maintain accurate case records and progress notes within the electronic health record (EHR) system.

    Court & Program Support

    • Attend misdemeanor court proceedings on a weekly basis.
    • Prepare and submit reports, updates, and progress documentation as required by the courts.
    • Supervise participants involved in DWI Court programming.
    • Assist with Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) groups as needed.
    • Communicate urinalysis results and participant status updates to the courts.

    Referrals & Community Resources

    • Connect participants with appropriate treatment and supportive services, including:
    • Substance Use Disorder Treatment
    • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
    • Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)
    • SATOP Services
    • Anger Management Programs
    • Violent Offender Programs
    • Life Skills Training

    Compliance Monitoring

    • Collect and document monthly supervision fees.
    • Conduct and monitor urinalysis screenings.
    • Ensure court requirements and treatment recommendations are being followed.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to supervisory staff.

    Additional Duties

    • Participate in bi-weekly supervision meetings.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the program.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders, including common signs, symptoms, and treatment approaches.
    • Understanding of factors related to criminal behavior, recidivism, and delinquency.
    • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
    • Sound judgment and professionalism when working with diverse populations.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.

    Education & Experience

    Qualified candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field from an accredited college or university; OR
    • Minimum of five (5) years of probation experience within the State of Missouri; OR
    • Current Missouri Substance Abuse Professional Credentialing Board (MSAPCB) Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) certification.

    Additional Qualifications

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
    • Experience with case management, documentation, and court reporting preferred.

    Employment Requirements

    • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current automobile insurance.
    • Adult CPR certification and First Aid certification within ninety (90) days of employment.
    • Ability to provide verification of freedom from infectious and contagious diseases, including tuberculosis (TB), prior to employment and annually thereafter.
