Job Details: Responsible for the timely and safe transporting of residents to various individual and group activities/functions and medical appointments.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Assist residents on and off vehicles with assistive devices and stowing techniques.
  2. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned; completes Relias training on time every month.
  3. Check emails and daily/monthly schedules of the beginning of each workday. As well as the transportation hotline.
  4. Conduct pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections while completing the daily maintenance log, and fill out necessary travel logs and transportation charges.
  5. Familiarity with emergency procedures and may be required to assist with evacuations.
  6. Report and document any unsanitary any hazardous conditions or any needed repair of company vehicles; reports, equipment, accidents and/or incidents both accurately and completely in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  7. Manage transport of residents to appointments and other activities/outings to include local areas as well as the Baltimore-Washington Metro areas, as scheduled in a timely and efficient fashion. Communicate with residents via the BayWoods’ cell phone for pick-ups.
  8. Uphold all transportation policy and procedures, including driving hands-free of devices.

Other Duties:

  1. Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicle, inside and out.
  2. Makes miscellaneous runs for Administration errands, as necessary.
  3. Notify supervisor of necessary repairs and vehicle malfunctions.
  4. Notify supervisor of resident concerns, problems, or incidents.
  5. Understand how to schedule transportation through the Lyft app.
  6. Operate as a member of a team both within the department and across departments, which includes being a backup for the Front Desk staff.
  7. Performs other work duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
  2. High school education or equivalent.
  3. Knowledge of Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  4. Must be able to interpret and follow map directions.
  5. Valid State of Maryland driver’s license and must be insurable.

Uniform Requirements:

  1. Slip-Resistant Shoes: To minimize the possibility of injury from slipping on wet floors, the use of slip-resistant shoes is mandatory while on duty. Shoes must be designated as “slip-resistant” by the manufacturer. Shoes at your own expense.
  2. Proper seasonal uniform attire (provided by BayWoods of Annapolis).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Must be able to sit in a vehicle for up to six (6) hours per day; must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, and squat to load and unload cargo areas. Must have the ability to perform routine preventive maintenance on vehicles according to schedule. Keep vehicles clean. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds for handling luggage and resident groceries. May be exposed to the elements (rain, cold, heat) for short periods of time. Must have good driving skills in handling vehicles on wet and/or slippery roads.
