This class is experienced in the work and performs a higher level and a broad spectrum of investigation, counseling, supervisory, and case management duties for enforcing adherence to court ordered conditions and program criteria for criminal offenders in probationary status.

This is a "mandatory-testing" position that requires Drug Testing.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Enforces adherence to court ordered conditions for pre-trial diversion program by investigating and making recommendations to the Judge regarding revocations, modifications, and extensions of pre-trial diversion programs, scheduling appointments and compiling materials for meetings, conducting intake interviews and screen sessions, and reviewing and documenting information regarding defendant's enrollment into pre-trial diversion

Maintains a variety of records and accurate documentation of case files by preparing and submitting a variety of weekly and monthly statistical, financial, activity data, legal documents, correspondence, and other written materials

Monitors and investigates defendant's compliance with court-ordered conditions by authorizing and executing termination of the program agreement, submitting documentation for processing through the judicial system, attending court sessions and violation of probation hearings, and providing testimony in court

Supervises and administers counseling, treatment, and program conditions of defendants assigned to applicable program

Documents restitution payments and pretrial diversion fees by establishing payment plans to accommodate court ordered restitution payments and pre-trial diversion fees

Authorizes and initiates urinalysis, counseling, or other special conditions or treatment and identifies other problems and authorizes the administration of a variety of examinations and the use of diagnostic tools

Counsels defendants and their families by advising them on matters regarding pertinent personal, social, educational, financial, vocational, health, and program conditions

Performs varied supervisory, security, and treatment duties for defendants by supervising daily living, social, educational, and treatment activities and preparing daily passes for clients requiring personal items

Participates in developing, coordinating, and implementing program policies and work standards to maintain compliance with applicable statutes governing program goals and objectives

Performs other duties as assigned

Positions assigned to Community Corrections may be responsible for:

transporting inmates to and from the County jail

searching inmates returning to jail from work

documenting restitution payments and pretrial diversion fees

establishing payment plans to accommodate court ordered restitution payments and pre-trial diversion fees

identifying and developing community resources and support programs

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Training and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Human Behavioral Science, or a related field and at least one year of experience as a probation officer, residential drug counselor, juvenile probation officer, or court liaison, or related field; or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.

Licenses and Certifications:

Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence

communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction

evaluate situations and exercise sound judgment

Emergency Management Responsibilities:

During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, finger and hand dexterity as well as repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
