    Job Description

Step into a day where your designs keep production moving

Picture this: your morning starts on the plant floor, walking through an in-progress control-system upgrade. By midday, you’ve finalized a rapid-response modification, reviewed drawings with designers and craft personnel, and aligned a startup plan. In the afternoon, you’ve updated the project schedule and budget, refined a scope of work for a competitive bid package, and closed the loop with Operations and Maintenance on a hazard review. That’s the pace and purpose of this role—turning complex instrumentation, control, and electrical challenges into safe, reliable solutions for manufacturing.

    What you’ll handle

    • Champion upgrades spanning instrumentation/control (I&C) and electrical power systems.
    • Drive fast-turn plant modifications from initial design through installation and startup.
    • Complete engineering analysis and craft solutions to sophisticated technical issues.
    • Coordinate designers and craft teams to execute projects efficiently and safely.
    • Own project schedules and budgets—track milestones, progress, and spend.
    • Author thorough scopes of work and assemble clear, competitive bid packages.
    • Partner across Operations, Maintenance, Work Management, and Reliability Engineering.
    • Engage in hazard and safety analysis reviews to ensure compliance and risk reduction.

Where you’ll work and who you’ll report to

This position is based onsite at our Columbia, SC facility and reports to the Design Engineering and Planned Modifications Manager. The role supports the operation 100% onsite.

    What you bring

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
    • 4+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
    • Deep knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and power systems.
    • Hands-on experience with DCS/PLC platforms.
    • Understanding of electrical distribution systems and process control fundamentals.
