Process Control Engineer 2

Job Summary

Client is seeking a Process Control Engineer 2 to support supplier operations, supply chain coordination, and material availability across production and aftermarket facilities. This role will focus on managing supplier Control Towers, coordinating shipment priorities, and ensuring critical materials are delivered on time to keep Caterpillar production lines running efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, advanced Microsoft Excel experience, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to coordinate effectively with suppliers, buyers, and internal production teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Control Tower meetings with suppliers, Logistics Planning Associates (LPAs), buyers, and internal stakeholders to prioritize material shipments.
• Develop and maintain Excel-based material coverage files to track supply and demand by facility and week.
• Identify material shortages, shipment risks, and potential production disruptions, and communicate them to the appropriate stakeholders.
• Coordinate shipment plans based on supply chain demand, production schedules, facility requirements, and anticipated delays.
• Develop tracking tools, charts, and reports to monitor supplier performance, material availability, and adherence to shipment plans.
• Analyze operational data to identify process improvements, increase shipment efficiency, and reduce supply chain disruptions.
• Review production logs, processing sheets, specifications, and related records to ensure accuracy and compliance with requirements.
• Facilitate communication and conflict resolution between suppliers, buyers, and internal teams to establish shipment priorities.
• Support Power & Energy suppliers experiencing increased demand and help ensure material availability for Caterpillar production and aftermarket facilities.
• Visit supplier locations when required, following applicable personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 2 4 years of relevant professional experience in supply chain, production control, logistics, materials planning, purchasing, or supplier coordination.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including macros, advanced formulas, and complex spreadsheets.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and resolve conflicts.
• Ability to interpret supply chain demand, production schedules, operational reports, and shipment requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Previous experience working with Caterpillar's supply chain or production operations.
• Experience with Power BI for reporting, data visualization, and performance tracking.
• Familiarity with blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• Experience in roles such as Logistics Planning Associate (LPA), Supplier Development Engineer (SDE), Buyer, Materials Planner, or Production Control Specialist.
