About this Role:

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for assisting in the development, design, testing, and improvement of products from initial concept through to production and market launch. The role combines engineering expertise, creative problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative, reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality products that meet customer requirements and business objectives.

The Product Development Engineer works closely with teams across Engineering, R&D, Quality, and Product Management to ensure that products are technically feasible, manufacturable, compliant with applicable standards, and optimized for performance, cost, and quality. The role also involves collaborating with other Siemens stakeholders to deliver on requirements provided by Product Management, delivering state-of-the-art products and features with fast performance and a compelling user interface based on the best-suited architecture, safeguarding the quality of existing software, and applying the agile development methodology as defined in the Product Creation Process.

What you will be doing:

Product Design and Development

• Develop new products and improve existing products based on customer needs, market requirements, and business objectives.
• Translate product requirements and concepts into technical specifications, designs, prototypes, and engineering solutions.
• Evaluate materials, components, technologies, and manufacturing processes to identify the most suitable solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and design analysis reviews throughout the product development process.
• Evaluate the developed functionality in the Simcenter Testlab application and give feedback to the development team.
• Give internal demos and training on new functionality and update the user manuals.
• Produce release collateral documentation, such as fixed issues, known issues, and other relevant information.

Testing, Validation, and Quality

• Plan and execute product testing, verification, and validation activities.
• Analyze test results, identify design weaknesses, and propose corrective actions.
• Ensure products meet defined performance, safety, reliability, and quality requirements.
• Support root cause analysis and problem-solving activities related to product performance and design issues.
• Contribute to design risk assessments, failure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Manufacturing and Industrialization

• Support prototype builds, pilot production, process validation, and product ramp-up.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturability, reduce production costs, and optimize product performance.
• Resolve technical issues during production and support engineering changes when required.

Project Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Coordinate engineering activities within product development projects, ensuring milestones, timelines, and deliverables are achieved.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners to resolve technical challenges.
• Prepare technical reports, project updates, and presentations for relevant stakeholders.
• Support change management, design reviews, and product lifecycle management activities.
• Contribute to the successful transfer of new products from development to serial production.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

• Identify opportunities for product innovation, cost reduction, and performance improvement.
• Evaluate new technologies, materials, and engineering methods.
• Apply lessons learned and best practices to improve product development processes.
• Contribute to standardization, sustainability, and design-for-manufacturing initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience in product development, design engineering, R&D, or a similar engineering role.
• Knowledge of product design principles, engineering processes, and manufacturing technologies.
• Strong or expert knowledge of Noise and Vibration, data acquisition and processing, and digital signal processing.
• Understanding of product testing, validation, quality assurance, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and contributing to technical projects.
• Knowledge of applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality management systems, where relevant.

The primary location for this opportunity is Romania. The applicable salary range for this location is:

RON 145,300 - RON 276,000 (Romania)
