HireIQ Solutions is leading the search for a Production Manager at a US manufacturer of engineered-to-order HVAC and thermal management systems serving mission-critical and commercial/industrial environments. The company designs and manufactures highly customized equipment and continues to invest in production capability, operational excellence, and cross-functional execution across its manufacturing footprint.

About the Role

This role leads a 300-person sheet metal production shop that fabricates and feeds parts to assembly for multiple business units within the plant. The Production Manager is responsible for safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery across punching, laser cutting, fabrication, and welding operations, including the site's Salvagnini punch and laser equipment. This leader manages labor and resources, drives continuous improvement across the floor, and partners closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and the downstream assembly teams to meet production goals and support new product introductions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a 300-person sheet metal production shop — punching, laser cutting, fabrication, and welding — that supplies parts to assembly for multiple business units in the plant.

• Oversee Salvagnini punch and laser operations, driving machine utilization, throughput, and part quality.

• Balance fabrication schedules against the demands of each downstream business unit so assembly has the parts it needs, when it needs them.

• Lead and supervise production teams to meet daily, weekly, and monthly output targets.

• Monitor production schedules and adjust resources to ensure timely delivery of products.

• Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

• Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve production issues and improve product quality.

• Implement Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Train, coach, and develop team members to enhance performance and engagement.

• Track key performance indicators and report production metrics to senior leadership.

• Manage labor, materials, and equipment to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.

• Support new product introductions and process changes on the production floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

• Hands-on experience leading sheet metal, fabrication, and welding operations.

• Operations experience with Salvagnini punch and laser machines is required.

• Experience leading a large production workforce, ideally a shop that supplies parts to multiple downstream assembly lines or business units.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, manufacturing processes, and production planning.

• Proven leadership and team management skills.

• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities.

• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

• Experience in HVAC or related mechanical/electrical manufacturing industries is preferred.

• Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or Project Management are a plus.

• Bilingual English/Spanish capability is a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• This role operates in both office and manufacturing environments.

• The production floor may involve exposure to seasonal temperatures, noise, dust, and industrial equipment.

• Regular interaction with production staff, engineers, and leadership teams is required.

• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods on the production floor.

• Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.

• Frequent movement between office and manufacturing areas.

• Required use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols.

• Flexibility in working hours may be required to support multiple shifts or urgent production needs.

• This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring heightened awareness and strict adherence to safety procedures.
