    Pinnacle Polymers, LLC, a privately-owned polypropylene manufacturing facility, has an opening for a Process Operator I in Garyville, LA.

    The Production Operator I also upholds and promotes Pinnacle Polymers' six Core Values: Safety First Always, People, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork, and Sustainability, in addition to the following functions:

    Main responsibilities and key tasks

    • Performs Operator duties in the Extruder area.
    • Perform safe startup, operation and shutdown of various pumps and compressors as dictated by plant operations. Troubleshoots related equipment as needed. Perform rounds and readings throughout the area.
    • Stage and load product mix additives based upon production schedule.
    • Perform field monitoring and safe operation of associated equipment in the area.
    • Safely clean and maintain proper housekeeping of the production areas of the plant
    • Train other employees as needed
    • Perform other duties as needed

    Process Operator I position has the opportunity to progress to a Purification (Operator II), Reaction (Operator III), and Control/Board Room Operator.

    Competencies and skills

    • Associate Degree in Process Technology or equivalent program or work-related experience required
    • 1-3 years of work experience as a Process Operator in a manufacturing environment required.
    • Must be willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call as needed
    • Must be willing and able to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT)
    • Must be willing and able to work at various elevations and positions including heights of 125 feet or above
    • Must be familiar with and be able to wear proper PPE including respirator and FRC
    • Must be willing and able to safely, effectively and efficiently carry out written and verbal job-related instructions, and adhere to all company policies and procedures
    • Must have working knowledge of personal computers utilizing Microsoft Office applications
    • Must possess knowledge of the chemical hazards of the process unit and all logic associated with the safe operation of equipment as dictated by the area of operation
    • Ability to accurately and neatly complete administrative forms and reports in a timely manner
    • Previous experience with SAP is preferred, but not required
    • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job which are: frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others
    • Ability to work in the U.S. and successful completion of a pre-employment background check and screening
