PRODUCTION SHIFT LEADER - NIGHTS

Rome, GA

Schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 3/2 rotating schedule | $1.50/hour night shift differential

Pay: $28 to $31/hour depending on experience, plus $1.50/hour night shift differential

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A flexible packaging manufacturer in Rome, GA (flexographic printing and extrusion lamination) is adding a Production Shift Leader for its night shift. This is a player-coach role: you supervise and coordinate the shift's production associates, keep production on schedule, train and develop the team, and serve as the link between the floor and management. Reports to the Production Supervisor.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Supervise production employees on your shift to keep operations timely and efficient

- Monitor production processes for safety, quality and productivity compliance

- Coordinate shift activities to meet daily production goals

- Arrive ahead of shift to review the schedule and staffing and complete the shift-to-shift tie-in with the prior leader

- Hold associates to Set-Up / Start-Up procedures for systematic, timely start-ups on production equipment

- Drive quality control so product is made First Time Right, including auditing roll-to-roll checks

- Train, coach and evaluate team members; assign qualified trainers to new associates and track training completion

- Work with Quality Assurance so every associate in the department is Quality Certified

- Keep accurate records of shift output, downtime, scrap and safety incidents

- Work with maintenance, quality and logistics to minimize disruptions; evaluate equipment and use the CMMS program to cut unplanned downtime

- Lead KAIZEN events and quarterly safety and scrap projects

- Act as the first point of contact for shift issues and escalate as needed

- Support the Shift Supervisor on progressive discipline and back up direct reports on critical tasks

WHAT YOU NEED

- 3+ years in a supervisory, management or leadership role in a production environment (flexible packaging, printing or film converting strongly preferred)

- Detail-oriented with paperwork and system inputs

- Working knowledge of Windows and business operating systems

- Able to read job tickets and give clear verbal direction

- Math skills and the ability to use tape measures and micrometers

- Able to see and differentiate color to support press set-ups and print quality

- Understanding of film testing methods and department quality procedures

- Flexible on assignments and shifts to meet customer and production needs

- Strong verbal and written communication; team, project management and continuous improvement experience strongly preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT

- Lift and handle up to 75 lbs; stand for the full shift

- Bend, stand, flex and reach as needed; hands-on player-coach who leads by example

- Willing to work beyond a normal workweek when production demands

- Fast-paced production floor in a food-safety (SQF) plant; PPE required
