Production Supervisor 2nd shift

Summary:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading, directing, and developing production personnel while overseeing daily manufacturing operations within the assigned department. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant production processes through effective planning, scheduling, organization, and monitoring of departmental activities. The Production Supervisor supports continuous improvement initiatives and is accountable for maintaining compliance with Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), and SQF Management Systems.

Responsibilities:

• Consistently uphold and enforce company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Direct, coach, train, motivate, and evaluate production operators to support employee development and performance.
• Plan, organize, assign, and monitor daily work activities to achieve production objectives.
• Coordinate and verify all operator training requirements and maintain appropriate training documentation.
• Administer disciplinary actions in partnership with the Environmental, Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, and Production Managers.
• Foster a positive work environment through professional and respectful communication with all employees and departments.
• Provide directions regarding production schedules, raw material substitutions, staffing requirements, and operational priorities.
• Monitor production performance, including rates, yields, and quality metrics, to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
• Conduct production line reviews and operational audits to ensure equipment is properly configured and products meet customer specifications.
• Forecast job requirements and allocate personnel and equipment resources to optimize productivity.
• Coordinate production projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.
• Open and close manufacturing operations as required.
• Understand, support, and comply with all requirements of the company''s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Management System.
• Understand, support, and comply with all SQF (Safe Quality Food) Program requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to systems, procedures, projects, corrective actions, and compliance activities.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve quality, safety, and environmental non-conformances, ensuring timely completion of corrective and preventive actions.
• Participate in supervisor meetings, safety meetings, and compliance-related activities.
• Coordinate raw material flow and inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted production operations.
• Review daily cycle counts and material transactions for accuracy.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and initiate corrective action when necessary.
• Maintain inventories of departmental supplies and recommend procurement of tools and resources necessary for efficient operations.
• Monitor and maintain production equipment by documenting preventive maintenance requirements and recommending equipment improvements.
• Ensure operators complete required preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and daily sanitation activities.
• Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and initiate appropriate corrective actions, documentation, or maintenance requests.
• Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with housekeeping standards, including maintaining clear aisles and accessible emergency equipment.
• Promote a strong safety culture through active observation, coaching, and compliance with safety regulations.
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, process optimization, defect prevention, and increased productivity.
• Encourage employee participation in identifying opportunities for operational improvement.
• Utilize Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to enhance operational performance.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 to 4 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, production equipment, and operational workflows.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively manage resources in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in inventory control, production planning, and performance monitoring.
• Work overtime and varying schedules as required to support business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Emergency Evacuation and Fire Prevention Training
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
• Hazard Communication (HazCom)
• ISO 9001 Training
• Statistical Process Control (SPC)
• Forklift Operator Certification
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
• Bilingual English and Spanish skills.
• Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training.
