The Production Supervisor will oversee the production of our product through several phases performed internally and externally to meet on time delivery. They'll prioritize and schedule in-house production work orders using our MRP system, assist the Production Manager with monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts as well as ensure capacities are accurate internally and externally to meet forecasted demand.
The position reports to the Production Manager at Milwaukee Tool
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Schedule Work Orders needed for daily production requirements for various work cells
Maintaining production staff hours and schedules including logging attendance notes and managing time in software
Communicating and working with the HR department regarding production staff needs including temporary employee management, policy violations, conflict and evaluations
Provide performance feedback to Supervisors and Managers on team members as needed
Train new Production Team Leads
Communicate with Production Manager and Engineering as equipment and process issues exist internally and externally and require prompt resolution
Adheres to IB implemented safety standards including (PPE), work practice controls, and OSHA guidelines
Ensure proper costing of inventory through production processes
Oversee and communicate training of Leads and production staff on proper use of equipment
Work with the Safety Manger to ensure safety policies are being followed
Participate in continuous improvement efforts in support of lean processes and lead problem solving teams or kaizen events
Able to recognize and improve points of failure in the flow of production and implement countermeasures, escalate or recommend solutions
Oversee improvement of One-Piece Flow process in each work cell.
Help to implement KPI's and visual management tools on the production floor
Oversee the work cells are performing to best practices while keeping quality top priority
Responsible for order management and provides information to appropriate personnel, including the Team Leads, regarding needed changes and adjustments
Assist Production Manager with creation of monthly, quarterly and annual forecast
Understand daily work expectations and assist in assigning it to team members in which prioritizes the workload and equipment schedule to meet both internal and external demand
Effectively communicate with managers, engineers, technicians and necessary co-workers
Resolve schedule challenges as they arise by coordinating with necessary departments
Develop program to ensure standard of quality is met before all products leave facility
Maintain and apply Pareto principal practices used by Imperial Blades
Willingness to complete assigned special projects and other duties
Requests are completed with a good attitude and by needed deadlines
Skills & Qualifications:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Possess ability to resolve problems, recognize normal and unusual situations
Ability to work with manual and/or power equipment and tools
Possess proven mechanical ability or aptitude
Demonstrates strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
Accuracy and attention to detail required
Maintains a positive attitude and remains flexible to changing work environments
Is able to think independently, assign work to their team and work without direction
English skills to understand quality, safety, work instructions, personnel information, etc.
Microsoft Office proficiency including Outlook, Word and Excel
Ability to use ERP/MRP system (NetSuite a plus)
Education and/or Experience:
Production experience of 5 years minimum
Bachelor's degree in manufacturing management or equivalent experience
Previous supervisory experience and managing teams of employees
Experience with production scheduling
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
Experience with inventory costing concepts
Understanding of the Pareto principle and philosophy
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The employee may be required to frequently lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Frequent walking and sitting
Occasional bending, crouching, twisting, reaching
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain work cells is required
