    Description

    Objective: Supervisor Responsibilities including

    • Schedule, direct and supervise the production of pickles responsibilities according to FDA regulations, FSIS directives, company specifications, and customers’ order requirements.
    • Maximize the effect of labor, equipment and raw materials to positively impact company profits and to achieve departments’ tonnage goals based on seasonal customers ordering volume.
    • Develop and administer Pickle Production departments’ staffing training, workload and staff scheduling to meet customer product requirements, processing needs, and quality demands.

     

    Functions:

    • Customer demands / workload
    • Prior to each shift evaluate customer product demand information, in-process inventory levels, raw materials on hand, the scheduled labor, processing equipment and machinery available to plan the production lines according to departmental standards.
    • Collect and retain weekly tonnage and volume data.
    • Evaluate historical volume data, pending orders and raw materials in-process quantities and order raw material on a weekly basis. Adjust request for raw materials to be purchased as necessary.
    • Schedule the week as balanced as possible to maximize Production capabilities to meet companies volume profit potential.
    • Pre-stage and rotate raw materials based on oldest used first.
    • Schedule and maintain working inventory levels according to processing demands.
    • During the shift continue to evaluate and adjust labor and line set ups as customer demand, product and machinery availability changes.
    • Conduct product yield and time efficiency studies to continue improvement on labor and product out put.
    • Help coordinate support from other departments / divisions of Vienna Beef.
    • Support various departments with labor and machinery
    • Monitor inventories levels and produce when necessary items which supports the production demands of other departments.
    • Monitor and communicate with the sanitation team the required support as needed during the shift. Identify areas in the department, which require deep cleaning schedules to maintain a wholesome work environment.
    • Quality
    • Assign designated operators to support quality related functions for the company’s Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
    • Qualify the HACCP and SOP operators through Quality Assurance Department’s continuing training and licensing program.
    • Direct and supervise the qualified HACCP and SOP operators to record the time and control measurements as required by the company’s HACCP and SOP plans.
    • Monitor and verify on a shiftily basis the HACCP and SOP information gathered during the shift. Take actions and document activities as necessary to avoid deviations to the plans.
    • Respond to departmental HACCP and SOP deviations and help develop and implement corrective actions in a timely manor.
    • Monitor environmental sanitary conditions and employee Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
    • Monitor, evaluate and approve the raw materisl. The raw material must meet the company’s quality standards.
    • Record operational sanitational events daily on shift Standard Sanitational Operating Procedures (SSOP) form.
    • Record deviations and action taken to abate the occurrence on the Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) Corrective Action Report.
    • Collect lot control and store all lot and vat control numbers to fulfill department’s data retention responsibility to the company’s recall program.
    • Administrate the following Pickle Production paper work functions.
    • The procurement, maintaining and issuance of assigned employee's personal protective gear and job specific hand tools used in the department as per Quality Assurance and safety guidelines.
    • Review and file accordingly all departmental quality control records on a shiftily basis.
    • Oversee and direct the ordering and documentation of supplies needed for Pickle production
    • Oversee and direct the ordering and documentation of supplies needed for pickle production from Dry Storage.
    • Contribute to the departmental period end and year-end inventory responsibility.
    • Equipment
    • Develop and implement machine operators training program to identify and record various settings on machinery to achieve a consistent produced product.
    • Oversee, direct and maintain the machine elements
    • Target maintenance support as needed during the shift to assist in line set-ups, changeovers and to repair breakdowns.
    • Assist in developing a preventive maintenance schedule of the equipment with in the department.
    • Equip machine operator’s properly with tools to meet the changeovers and minor repairs to the equipment.
    • Assign designated shift forklift operators to facilitate production and movement with in the department.
    • Qualify the forklift operator through the company’s forklift training and qualification program.
    • Monitor and direct the scales and metal detectors used. The scales must be calibrated properly and left plugged in over night to keep them in good working order.
    • Document machinery breakdowns and excessive wear and tear. Inform all shifts of any and all breakdowns, which may run into their shift. Contact maintenance personnel when such repairs are necessary.
    • Evaluate environmental issues, machinery conditions and workers general attitudes to ensure workers safety.
    • Training
    • Train, evaluate and develop assigned staff utilizing job rotation to maintain a versatile labor force.
