Gpac is working with a growing national food manufacturer that is seeking a Production Supervisor, Eastern New York.
This is a hands-on, on-the-floor leadership role for someone who can both run a team and jump in where needed. We are looking for someone who can improve and grow every aspect of the process, build and train a team, and grow into more responsibility as the company scales.
Key Responsibilities:
Line Operation & Throughput
- Direct daily bottling operations to meet production schedules, output targets, and efficiency goals; we will run a single shift initially and scale to two shifts as the operation grows.
- Oversee the full process flow: bulk syrup handling, reheating, filtration, hot-fill, capping/sealing, labeling, coding, and case packing/palletizing.
- Manage line changeovers between package formats (glass bottles of various sizes, gallon jugs, etc.) to minimize downtime.
- Monitor and troubleshoot filling, capping, labeling, and coding equipment; coordinate with maintenance and supervisors on preventive maintenance and breakdowns.
- Track key metrics (throughput, downtime, yield, scrap) and drive continuous improvement in line efficiency (OEE).
Quality & Food Safety
- Enforce hot-fill parameters to ensure proper fill temperature for seal integrity and to prevent mold growth, fermentation, etc.
- Verify product quality standards including density/Brix (target ~66–68.9° Brix) using a refractometer or hydrometer, and Grade A color-class consistency (Golden, Amber, Dark, Very Dark).
- Ensure correct lot coding, date coding, and label application for full traceability.
- Improve ever aspect of product quality and efficiency within the bottling process.
- Support and enforce the facility HACCP plan; monitor Critical Control Points and document accordingly.
- Champion Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) on the floor at all times.
SQF & Compliance
- Enforce and uphold SQF standards; help maintain audit-ready conditions at all times.
- Ensure pre-operational sanitation is completed and verified before each run.
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and sanitation records to support SQF, HACCP, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in internal and external food safety audits and support corrective actions.
- Reinforce allergen control, chemical control, and traceability/recall procedures.
Team Leadership
- Lead, schedule, and coordinate a team of 5–10 operators; help build out and staff a second shift as volume grows.
- Train and onboard operators on equipment, GMPs, food safety, and standard operating procedures.
- Set clear expectations, provide coaching and feedback, and hold the team accountable to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Foster a positive, accountable, safety-first culture on the floor.
Safety
- Enforce all workplace safety policies, including lockout/tagout, hot-liquid handling, PPE, and machine guarding.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment (5S).
- Report, investigate, and help resolve safety incidents and near-misses.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay and expanding benefit package.
- A key leadership role in a fast-growing company with genuine advancement potential.
