Project 1: Work on designing intersections with new traffic signals utilizing cutting edge technology for the 10th largest City in the Country.

Project 2: Work on exciting projects to upgrade aging traffic signal infrastructure with the latest equipment to improve the efficiency and safety.

Project 3: Utilities available big data transportation analytics platforms including INRIX, Streetlight etc. to discover ways to make the traffic signal infrastructure more efficient and provide improved travel times for the citizenry.

Professional Development Opportunities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Retiming signalized corridors
• Design and review of traffic signal plans and specifications
• Knowledge of the latest versions of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD), Highway Capacity Manual (TRB HCM 2010), -AASHTO Manual for Geometric Designs of Highways and Streets
• Experience with AutoCAD, SYNCHRO, and Highway Capacity Software (HCS)
• Traffic studies experience
• Community meeting experience

The Professional Engineer's job responsibilities include:

• Retiming corridors, developing and implementing signal timing plans for synchronized systems throughout the city
• Installation and/or modification of traffic signals and other traffic-related activities
• Provide technical support to plan, design, and implement transportation projects; reviewing, designing, and implementing traffic signal projects using the latest available design and drafting software
• Responding to citizens and vendor requests (as assigned)
• Mentoring junior engineers or techs and assisting Senior Engineers with traffic signal projects/contracts
• Traffic data collection and conducting traffic studies
• Ability to interact and communicate concisely and accurately both orally and in writing with consultants, stakeholders, and citizens

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university with major coursework in mathematical, physical, or engineering science
• Four (4) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience, including two (2) years in the assigned area of responsibility
• Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six (6) months of employment
• Valid Texas driver's license
