Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Geology or another related science field. Must possess a State of Florida Professional Geologist license and a minimum of three to five years of experience in environmental assessment, aquifer characterization, geologic and hydrogeologic characteristics that influence migration and transport of contaminants, and potential rate of degradation of contaminants through natural attenuation are required.

Recruitment Notes

The Professional Geologist in the Environmental Monitoring and Evaluation Section of the Environmental Monitoring and Restoration Division reviews geological information, reports or other documents pertaining to contaminated site rehabilitation. Incumbents in this position supervise and direct staff reviewers responsible for carrying out these functions and sign and seal site rehabilitation orders. Additionally, this role entails evaluating environmental impact, aquifer characterization, geological formations, stratigraphic profiles, fate and transport models, and statistical methods to identify potential chemical contamination, bacteria and pathogens or salt intrusion that could adversely affect Miami-Dade County's drinking water supply, public health, and the environment.

This role also generates and evaluates data on background soil and groundwater concentrations to inform risk-based corrective action decisions. Moreover, this position monitors and develops regulations, innovative technologies, and emerging trends in the assessment of petroleum, industrial, and solid waste contaminated sites.

This position is eligible for a $480.75 bi-weekly pay supplement that equates to approximately $12,500 annually over a 26-pay period cycle.
