Job Summary
The Burn Program Director provides leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight of the burn program. This role is responsible for the development, growth, and sustainability of the burn center, ensuring compliance with American Burn Association (ABA) verification standards and alignment with organizational strategic priorities. Serves as the primary liaison between hospital executive leadership and the burn medical director, leading multidisciplinary collaboration across the continuum of care and ensuring clinical quality, operational excellence, financial stewardship, and regulatory compliance. Responsible for education, staff (direct reports and clinical oversight for those who provide burn care), inventory, resources, knowledge management, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Minimum Job Requirements
Work Experience
License/Registration/Certification
Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN license required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) certifications required; may be obtained within one year of placement in the position.
Certified Burn Registered Nurse (CBRN) certification through the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) required; may be obtained within two years of placement in the position.
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) certification required; may be obtained within one year of placement in the position.
Education and Training
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Business Administration preferred.
