AutoCAD Drafter

Position Overview

Our team in Wilmington, DE, is seeking an AutoCAD Drafter / Programmer to support drafting, production programming, and general manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on, multifaceted role ideal for someone with AutoCAD experience who is interested in expanding their skills in CNC programming, nesting software, and steel fabrication.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in technical drafting, can interpret engineering drawings, and is willing to learn new software and assist with production floor activities as needed. This is not strictly a desk-based position, as responsibilities will vary depending on production demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, review, and modify technical drawings using AutoCAD.

• Learn and utilize nesting software to prepare parts and optimize material usage for steel fabrication.

• Support CNC programming and production preparation based on incoming jobs and project requirements.

• Work closely with experienced programmers and participate in hands-on training to learn the company's programming processes.

• Assist with machine operation and general production floor activities as needed.

• Manage and track inventory, materials, and related documentation.

• Collaborate with production and fabrication teams to ensure drawings, materials, and job requirements are aligned.

• Adapt to changing workloads and assist with additional operational responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience using AutoCAD for drafting and technical drawings is required.

• Experience in steel fabrication, manufacturing, or a related industrial environment is preferred.

• Familiarity with CNC machining, CNC programming, or nesting software is a plus.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication plans.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with inventory and material tracking.

• Willingness to learn new software, programming processes, and manufacturing procedures.

• Comfortable working in both an office setting and an active production environment.

• Ability to wear required safety equipment, including work boots, and assist on the production floor.
