Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition (CHCC), located in Biddeford, is seeking a proactive Project Coordinator to lead health promotion initiatives that enhance public health outcomes. Reporting to the Director, the Coordinator will collaborate with community partners to develop, implement, and evaluate initiatives focused initially on preventing childhood lead poisoning in Biddeford. This role will involve building and supporting a community coalition, increasing public awareness, providing education and outreach, and advancing strategies that promote positive health outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the formation of a stakeholder coalition to identify, develop, and implement actionable strategies to prevent childhood lead poisoning and promote community-level environmental change.
  • Provide support in developing, implementing, and achieving the goals and objectives of Lead Prevention Grants.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local municipalities, family-serving organizations, businesses, and community stakeholders to advance lead poisoning prevention initiatives.
  • Conduct community education and awareness efforts through training sessions, community events, speaking engagements, and outreach activities using multimedia channels, including social media, public service announcements (PSAs), press releases, and educational materials.
  • Promote awareness of lead hazards and provide targeted education to priority populations while incorporating cultural responsiveness into all planning, outreach, and evaluation activities.
  • Advocate for policy development and initiatives that support environmental health improvements and lead poisoning prevention.
  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in events and activities that increase awareness of public health initiatives.
  • Collaborate with CHCC leadership and staff to develop media campaigns and support website and social media content.
  • Monitor, track, and report grant-related activities, including preparing and maintaining records, reports, and documentation required by funding sources using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Maintain current knowledge of research, data, best practices, and emerging trends related to grant initiatives and public health programming.
  • Participate in required and relevant professional development opportunities to maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to perform job responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Public Health, Education, or a related field, with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in community health, policy development, housing initiatives, municipal programs, community engagement, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, community organizing, stakeholder engagement, meeting facilitation, and public speaking or community relations.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with social media management, website content development, and graphic design is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop written communications, including press releases, promotional materials, educational resources, and presentations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse community partners, organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Must have reliable transportation for local travel and the ability to participate in occasional evening and weekend community events and activities.
