Project Coordinator - Path to Project Management

A growing underground utility contractor in the Indianapolis market is looking to add a Project Coordinator to its team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience supporting water, wastewater, underground utility, or heavy civil construction projects and wants to grow within a strong project management team.

The Project Coordinator will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to keep projects organized and moving forward.

What You'll Do

• Assist Project Managers with the day-to-day coordination of underground utility projects
• Track project schedules, documentation, budgets, and project deliverables
• Coordinate with field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
• Prepare and maintain RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, change orders, and other project documentation
• Assist with material procurement and delivery coordination
• Review plans, specifications, and project documents
• Help track project costs, quantities, invoices, and production
• Maintain accurate project files and records
• Communicate project updates between the field and office
• Assist with scheduling crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors
• Support Project Managers through the full project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout
• Help identify potential project issues and communicate them to the appropriate team members

Ideal Background

• 2+ years of experience in construction project coordination, project administration, project engineering, or project management
• Experience with underground utilities, water/wastewater, civil construction, or heavy construction strongly preferred
• Understanding of water mains, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, underground utilities, or excavation
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Comfortable working with both field and office personnel
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with construction management software is a plus
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment
