About the Role:
As we expand our footprint in the United States, we are strengthening our commercial development platform and are looking for an experienced Project Development Director to lead the end-to-end development of front-of-the-meter projects across key US markets.
This is a high-impact role within a fast-scaling organization, with strong long-term growth potential in the US portfolio.
Role Overview
The Director of Project Development will lead Energy Dome's project development activities across the United States and will be accountable for the origination, advancement, and delivery of the Company's utility-scale project pipeline.
The role is responsible for defining and executing development strategy, overseeing project development teams and external partners, and ensuring that projects progress efficiently from origination through permitting, interconnection, commercial structuring, and Financial Close / Ready-to-Build status.
The Director will serve as one of the key leaders of Energy Dome's North American growth strategy and will work closely with executive leadership to support the expansion of the Company's project portfolio.
The role is hybrid and can be based anywhere in the United States, with travel as required.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio & Development Strategy
- Define and execute the North American project development strategy.
- Build and manage a pipeline of utility-scale energy storage projects across target markets.
- Prioritize development opportunities based on strategic, commercial, regulatory and financial criteria.
- Ensure alignment between development activities and corporate growth objectives.
Development Leadership
- Lead the advancement of projects from origination through Financial Close and Ready-to-Build status.
- Oversee permitting, interconnection, land control and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Manage project development budgets, schedules, risk registers and development resources.
- Establish development processes, governance and reporting frameworks.
Commercial & Market Development
- Support market entry strategies and identification of new development opportunities.
- Lead negotiations of key development agreements, partnerships and strategic relationships.
- Support commercial discussions with utilities, developers, investors and strategic partners.
- Collaborate with internal teams on project valuation and investment decisions.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor and manage the North American development team.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities involving Legal, Engineering, Grid, Finance, Commercial and External Affairs.
- Manage external developers, consultants and advisors.
- Ensure effective reporting to executive management and Board-level stakeholders.
Executive Reporting
- Provide regular updates on pipeline status, development risks and investment opportunities.
- Present project recommendations and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
- Support corporate planning and portfolio management activities.
Required Experience & Background
- 10+ years of experience in utility-scale energy project development in the United States.
- Proven track record leading projects from early-stage development through permitting, interconnection and Financial Close or Ready-to-Build status.
- Demonstrated experience managing development teams and external development partners.
- Strong knowledge of ISO markets, interconnection processes and utility-scale energy infrastructure development.
- Experience negotiating complex commercial and development agreements.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Energy, Business or a related field.
Preferred Experience
- Experience developing projects in ERCOT, SPP and PJM.
- Experience in energy storage, renewable energy or hybrid projects.
- Existing network of industry relationships across utilities, developers, landowners and regulatory stakeholders.

Compensation
We offer a competitive executive compensation package aligned with experience, track record and expected impact, including:
- Base salary range: $200,000 - $250,000
