    Project Engineer (Civil Site Development)

    Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina

    Position Overview

    Industrial Pro Recruiting is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Project Engineer to join a growing civil engineering and land development team in the Winston-Salem area.

    This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects spanning commercial, residential, mixed-use, healthcare, higher education, industrial, and community development. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, design, permitting, and execution of civil site development projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed Professional Engineer seeking increased project responsibility, technical challenges, and long-term career growth within a collaborative organization.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Prepare and oversee civil site design packages from concept through construction.
    • Develop site layout, grading, utility, erosion control, storm drainage, and stormwater management plans.
    • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations to support project design.
    • Coordinate with architects, surveyors, planners, environmental consultants, and other engineering disciplines.
    • Interpret and apply local, county, and state development regulations and design standards.
    • Support entitlement, permitting, and agency review processes.
    • Review plans for technical accuracy, constructability, and regulatory compliance.
    • Manage project schedules, technical deliverables, and client expectations.
    • Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical guidance throughout project development.
    • Participate in client meetings and coordinate with public agencies and utility providers as required.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
    • Minimum of 5–7 years of civil site development engineering experience.
    • Demonstrated experience designing projects within commercial, residential, healthcare, higher education, industrial, or mixed-use developments.
    • Strong understanding of grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility infrastructure, erosion control, and site development practices.
    • Experience preparing permit submittals and coordinating with municipal, county, and state regulatory agencies.
    • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.

    Preferred Technical Skills

    • AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • Hydrology Studio or comparable hydraulic modeling software
    • EPANET or similar water distribution modeling software
    • Microsoft Excel and other engineering analysis tools
    • Experience with project collaboration and document management platforms
