Senior Project Engineer – Commercial Construction

Overview

A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join their growing team and support a diverse portfolio of projects, including retail centers, creative office spaces, ground-up construction, remodels, and tenant improvements. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive construction professional looking to take on greater responsibility while working closely with experienced Project Managers and field leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination and documentation
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project logs
• Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and schedule updates
• Coordinate with subcontractors, architects, engineers, and consultants to maintain project progress
• Review construction drawings and specifications to confirm scope, requirements, and project alignment
• Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure compliance with contract requirements
• Participate in project meetings and assist with meeting minutes, reporting, and follow-up
• Support multiple commercial projects from ground-up construction through renovation and tenant improvement

Qualifications

• 4–8+ years of commercial construction experience, preferably in a Project Engineer or similar capacity
• Experience with retail, office, tenant improvement, or renovation projects preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications
• Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working collaboratively with both office and field teams
