A growing Bay Area infrastructure contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support complex public-sector electrical and infrastructure projects throughout Northern California.
This role will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and public agency clients on projects involving water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, utility infrastructure, and related electrical systems.
This is a strong opportunity for an early-career construction professional who has experience with electrical construction and wants to build a long-term career managing technically complex public infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Support Project Managers with day-to-day execution of electrical and infrastructure projects
Manage RFIs, submittals, change documentation, procurement, and project correspondence
Review electrical drawings, specifications, scopes, and contract documents
Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and public agency representatives
Assist with project scheduling, cost tracking, forecasting, and progress reporting
Track electrical equipment and long-lead materials including switchgear, controls, generators, and related systems
Support electrical and mechanical coordination on water treatment, wastewater, and pump station projects
Participate in project meetings and help resolve field and design coordination issues
Assist with change orders, quantity tracking, billing support, and project documentation
Support project closeout including punch lists, testing, commissioning, as-builts, and turnover documentation
Requirements
2-5+ years of construction experience as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar
Electrical construction experience strongly preferred
Experience with public works, municipal, water/wastewater, industrial, or infrastructure projects preferred
Exposure to water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, pump stations, or process facilities is highly desirable
Understanding of electrical drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
Ability to coordinate effectively between field and project management teams
Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent construction experience considered
