We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our Municipal Engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of public infrastructure projects that enhance the safety, sustainability, and quality of life within the communities we serve.

Working alongside experienced Project Managers and technical professionals, you will support municipal clients through every phase of project delivery from concept development and permitting to construction administration and project closeout. This position offers a strong opportunity for professional growth while working on diverse and impactful municipal engineering projects throughout New Jersey.

The Project Engineer is responsible for preparing engineering designs, technical reports, construction documents, and permit applications for a wide variety of municipal infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical abilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering quality engineering solutions that meet client expectations, regulatory requirements, and project schedules.

Responsibilities


  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports for municipal engineering projects. 
  • Design roadway, drainage, stormwater management, utility, grading, and site improvements utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D. 
  • Prepare calculations supporting roadway geometry, stormwater management systems, water distribution, sanitary sewer, and utility improvements. 
  • Coordinate project design with municipal officials, utility companies, county agencies, and regulatory authorities. 
  • Prepare permit applications for NJDEP, county, and local agencies. 
  • Assist Project Managers with project scheduling, budgeting, resource planning, and overall project execution. 
  • Perform field investigations, site inspections, and construction observations. 
  • Review contractor shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, payment applications, and change orders. 
  • Attend client meetings, municipal council meetings, planning board meetings, and project coordination sessions as required. 
  • Support the preparation of proposals, scopes of work, and engineering cost estimates. 
  • Mentor junior engineering staff and contribute to technical quality control efforts.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university. 
  • 2–4 years of municipal or civil engineering consulting experience. 
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification required
  • Professional Engineer License in NJ is a plus
  • Experience preparing engineering plans and construction documents. 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required and proficiency in Microstation is a plus
  • Knowledge of grading, drainage, utility, and roadway design. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities. 
  • Valid driver's license.

Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
