Job Summary:
The Project Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for multifamily construction lighting projects. This role analyzes construction plans, lighting finish schedules, and specifications to develop detailed proposals that align with customer needs and company objectives. The role requires consistent collaboration, timely communication, and the ability to meet business deadlines.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Perform job duties during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM) and standard workdays, as required to support team collaboration and ensure timely communication with customers and vendors during their normal business operations
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, lighting finish schedules, specifications, and related documents
  • Prepare accurate, timely, and complete cost estimates and proposals
  • Analyze RFI updates, bid documents, and customer feedback to refine estimates
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers during standard business hours
  • Obtain and evaluate vendor pricing to ensure cost-effective solutions
  • Identify inconsistencies, risks, or gaps in plans and specifications
  • Maintain organized and accurate estimating documentation and records
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Exercise sound judgment and problem-solving to support estimating decisions
  • Support leadership with special projects as needed
  • Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs
 
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Familiarity with standard symbols, concepts, and practices in construction drawings
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong follow-up and accountability skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with On-Screen Takeoff (OST) preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
 
Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of estimating or related experience
  • Experience in lighting, electrical, or plumbing industry preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, phone, printer, etc.
  • Ability to review and analyze detailed documents and plans
Work Environment:
  • Hybrid work schedule: Employees are expected to work two (2) days per week in the office (Monday and Thursday) and may work remotely up to three (3) days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday). Employees may choose to work in the office up to five (5) days per week based on professional judgment and business needs.
  • Work must be performed during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM) to align with customer and vendor availability and support team collaboration
  • Primarily office-based with regular use of computer systems
  • Requires ongoing interaction with team members, vendors, and customers
