Duties Description Under the general supervision of Regional Director, Project Manager 2 will provide guidance on regional matters and programmatic issues and coordinate capital program activities for the Region among regional groups.
Duties of Project Manager 2 include but are not limited to the following:
While working in this position, the incumbent will be exposed to every aspect of regional operations and will have the opportunity to work with the group directors and various committees and teams daily. The incumbent will also have regular contact with the Main Office and the offices of local municipalities.
The preferred candidate will possess excellent writing and proofreading skills, have the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and proactively approach and recommend resolutions to issues. It is also important to possess an awareness of the need to exercise discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information.

Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). *
To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are A bachelors degree and three years of professional experience in project management which must include planning and at least three other of the management process groups: origination (including governance/work intake, portfolio management, capacity/demand planning); initiating; executing; controlling; and, closing. This experience must include the development of project management deliverables, such as scope statements, schedules, budgets, quality plans, risk plans, and communication plans; or current certification from the Project Management Institute as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM); or current certification from the Project Management Institute as a Project
Management Professional (PMP).a Juris Doctor, masters or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience.
Candidates may also be qualified for permanent competitive appointment if reachable from the appropriate Civil Service eligible list or eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
Additional Comments Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

The salary range listed reflects the full range for this graded position. For new State employees appointed into graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiatedunion contracts.
