Job Description

Project Manager

The go-to name in adaptive re-use & historic remodel builds across the Midwest. Track record of growth. The last 3 PM's have been promoted to SPM & PX.

100+ year-old, fourth-generation family-owned GC with a national footprint and a growing Milwaukee operation. They've built a niche in adaptive reuse and historic renovation, turning that expertise into a $100M+ business unit, while expanding into ground-up construction. With roughly $500M in revenue, extensive self-perform capabilities, and a lean Wisconsin team, they offer the best of both worlds: the resources and stability of a national contractor with the autonomy and visibility of a mid-market firm.

Job Description

  • Own projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Lead planning, budgeting, scheduling, buyout and execution
  • Manage relationships with owners, architects, engineers and subcontractors
  • Oversee project financials, contracts, change orders and forecasting
  • Review plans/specs and proactively identify scope gaps and constructability issues
  • Lead project meetings and manage RFIs, submittals and project documentation
  • Partner with the Superintendent to drive field execution, schedule and quality
  • Identify and resolve risks before they impact cost, schedule or quality
  • Build strong client relationships that generate repeat business
  • Support preconstruction, estimating and value engineering
  • Leverage BIM/VDC and self-perform capabilities
  • Mentor junior project staff and contribute to growing the Milwaukee operation

MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled, protected veterans and all other qualified applicants.

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of commercial construction experience with $5M+ project ownership
  • Experience with ground-up, adaptive reuse, historic renovation or complex commercial projects
  • Strong command of plans/specs, scheduling, budgets, contracts and project controls
  • Proven ability to manage projects end-to-end with strong financial acumen
  • Excellent client, subcontractor and field team relationship skills
  • Hands-on, accountable problem solver who thrives with autonomy
  • Track record of repeat business, client development or BD is a major plus
  • Healthcare, hospitality or industrial experience is preferred
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - someone who wants to help build the Milwaukee business, not just manage projects

What's on Offer

  • $115K-$135K base salary
  • 12% annual bonus
  • Approximately $129K-$151K target cash compensation
  • Work on unique, technically challenging projects most GCs don't have the expertise to pursue
  • Opportunity to work on landmark adaptive reuse and historic renovation projects
  • Join a $500M+ national organization while working within a lean Wisconsin team
  • Help build out ground-up/new construction presence in Wisconsin
  • Extensive self-perform capabilities
  • Strong BIM/VDC and preconstruction resources
  • Established reputation that generates repeat and relationship-driven business
  • Approximately 7-year average employee tenure
  • Fourth-generation family ownership and long-term stability
