Position Summary:This position has responsibility for assisting in success of new construction, vessel renovation, and development projects throughout all project phases, on-site inspections and project control documentation and support.Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as lead Project Manager with tracking all labor costs, expenses, and project timelinesCreate and maintain project schedule using Microsoft projectEvaluate progress and quality of work being performed by designer and contractorsEvaluate project plans, work hours, budgets, and expendituresPerform data and budget analysis and create reports as neededProvide detailed construction status reportsMaintain professional relationships with all clients and contractorsOrganize and host all on-site and virtual construction meetingsEfficiently and accurately communicate relevant project information to the project teamReview field inspection reports from Consultants throughout life cycle of the projectAssist the Program Manager with drafts and issuance of project proposals, RFP's, tenders, budgets, cash flows and preliminary schedulesIssue contracts, Letters of Intent, Purchase Orders, etc.Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and contractorsPlan, procure Owner Furnished Equipment, and provide customer representation for shipyard work periods. This task will require some travelTrack all labor costs, expenses, and project timelines, and evaluate progress and quality of work being performed by designer and contractorsMaintain contract execution tracking log, including change ordersControl all project data throughout the lifecycle of the projectPrepare substantial completion certificates and ensure all project closeout documents are obtained and filedTravel to project sites within the US and internationally as neededOther duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications:
BS in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience is required. An advanced degree is preferred in a technical discipline associated with vessel construction or ship repair such as marine engineering.Minimum of 5 years of previous shipyard experienceExperience creating detailed construction schedules with project scheduling softwarePMP certification or equivalent is strongly preferredUnderstanding of aluminum, steel, wood, & fiberglass vessel design and constructionFamiliarity with classification society rules (ABS, USCG, etc.)A familiarity with current passenger vessel regulations (i.e. USCG T & K boat regulations)Must have strong written and oral communication skillsExperience working in a team and operational environment to manage systemsExperience with Word, Excel and organizational documentation file management systemsMust thrive in a fast-paced environmentMust have a valid driver's licenseMust be able to board vessels, enter confined spaces with limited visibility and have the ability to climb up and down stairs and/or ladders of varying heights to complete inspectionsSubmit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the USCG including but not limited to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident/incident testing.
