Job Summary:
The Project Manager II provides project management support for Energy’s Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) platform and related initiatives. This role will coordinate cross-functional planning, execution, reporting, and issue resolution across business, technology, operations, and vendors to advance DERMS capabilities in support of distributed energy resource visibility, integration, monitoring, dispatch, and control. The position is expected to manage the full lifecycle of projects in accordance with our department’s Project Management Center of Excellence (PMCoE) standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and manage integrated project plans, schedules, cost estimates, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and action items for DERMS platform initiatives.
Support coordination across product owners, IT delivery teams, OT/grid operations teams, architecture, cybersecurity, data, compliance, regulatory, change management, and vendor partners.
Facilitate project routines including status meetings, working sessions, governance reviews, readiness reviews, and executive updates.
Track delivery progress for platform releases, environment readiness, testing activities, user acceptance, operational handoffs, training, and implementation readiness.
Identify and escalate risks, blockers, resource constraints, and decision points that could impact DERMS scope, schedule, cost, quality, or operational readiness.
Prepare clear project communications, status reports, dashboards, decision logs, meeting notes, and leadership-ready summaries.
Support change control, scope management, budget tracking, cost forecasting, procurement activities, and vendor coordination as needed.
Help ensure DERMS project execution aligns with enterprise project governance, business objectives, grid modernization priorities, cybersecurity requirements, and applicable regulatory or compliance expectations.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 9 years of project management experience.
Graduation from a four-year college or university.
Demonstrated proficiency in project management principles, including schedule management, risk management, issue resolution, stakeholder engagement, financial tracking, and project reporting. Experience managing complex, cross-functional technology or operational projects with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in business, project management, engineering, information technology, or equivalent experience. PMP or CAPM certification.
Experience with utility technology platforms, DERMS, ADMS, SCADA, energy management systems, grid operations platforms, distributed energy resource programs, demand response, battery storage, solar integration, or virtual power plant initiatives.
Working knowledge of project scheduling, cost controls, vendor management, technology implementation, testing coordination, operational readiness, change management, and utility regulatory or compliance considerations.
Utility technical certifications or training, CMII or construction certifications, or Professional Engineer licensure are beneficial.
The Project Manager II may interact with individuals across a broad range of organizations and leadership levels, including individual contributors, project teams, product owners, vendor representatives, technology leaders, grid operations leaders, regulatory and compliance partners, department leadership, and executive management.
Success in this role requires strong ownership, structured follow-through, clear communication, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex DERMS platform work into actionable plans and leadership-ready updates.
