Description

We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to lead and oversee heavy civil construction and excavation projects from pre-construction through completion. This role is responsible for managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within scope.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong field and technical knowledge, and is comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of heavy civil and excavation projects including site development, grading, utilities, and earthwork
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts
  • Coordinate with superintendents, field crews, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality requirements
  • Review plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure accurate project execution
  • Track project progress and proactively resolve issues impacting cost or schedule
  • Lead project meetings with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders
  • Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
  • Oversee procurement of materials and subcontractor agreements
  • Monitor project financials including cost tracking, billing, and profitability
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5–10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, excavation, or site development
  • Proven experience managing projects involving earthwork, utilities, grading, or roadway construction
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, HCSS, Bluebeam, MS Project)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with DOT, municipal, or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of estimating and bidding processes
  • Familiarity with GPS machine control and modern construction technology
  • OSHA certification or strong safety background
