Project Manager ITS

Position Overview

The ITS Project Manager oversees planning, coordination, and execution of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects from initiation through closeout. This role ensures all ITS activities—including field deployments, network integrations, traffic technology installations, and system upgrades—remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with organizational standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements. The ITS Project Manager leads cross‑functional technical teams, manages resources, and maintains clear communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning, scheduling, budgeting, and documentation for ITS projects.
• Define project scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource needs for ITS deployments and system integrations.
• Coordinate internal teams, ITS technicians, subcontractors, vendors, and transportation partners.
• Oversee installation and integration of ITS equipment such as cameras, sensors, VMS boards, communications networks, and traffic management technologies.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and performance.
• Maintain accurate project records, reports, and status updates for clients and leadership.
• Facilitate project meetings, including kickoff, technical reviews, progress updates, and closeout.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, ITS standards, safety requirements, and client specifications.
• Manage procurement activities, including vendor selection, equipment ordering, and contract oversight.
• Support continuous improvement by evaluating project outcomes and recommending process enhancements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Transportation Systems, Business, or related field; or equivalent project management experience.
• 2–5 years of project management experience in ITS, construction, operations, IT, or infrastructure.
• Experience working with ITS technologies, traffic systems, communications networks, or field‑based technical projects preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana, or similar).
• PMP or CAPM certification preferred.
